The Reciprocity of Desire: Giving Without Extraction

Welcome home

Desire isn’t frivolous. It’s not a weakness or a selfish indulgence. Desire is the pulse of life moving through you — a compass that shows you what you’re made for. But when desire gets twisted up in capitalism and extraction, it can feel tainted.

Too often, we give in order to get. We pour out “value” hoping it will finally earn us love, clients, recognition, blessings. That’s not reciprocity. That’s extraction — of ourselves, our energy, our life force.

The Block in Receiving

One of the biggest blocks I see is this: “If I give, I’ll never get back. If I ask, it won’t happen.”

That fear cuts us off from receiving. It’s not that the divine, the universe, or even people in our lives don’t want to give to us. It’s that our lack of faith becomes a wall. If you don’t believe your needs can be met, you won’t even notice when they are.

Reciprocity, Not Transaction

True divine relationship is not transactional. It’s relational. You don’t give to Saturn, or to a god, or to a friend so you can cash out later. You give because you love, because you want to be in relationship.

  • Reciprocity is a flow — giving and receiving in balance.

  • Extraction is a drain — giving too much, or giving with strings attached.

  • Desire is sacred — but only when it flows from your wholeness, not from scarcity.

Saturn, the Inner Warden

Here’s where Saturn comes in. Many of us internalize Saturn as an inner warden — the voice that says you’re not enough, you can’t have that, you’ll never get what you want. That’s not Saturn itself — that’s capitalism’s distortion of Saturn.

When we alchemize that warden, Saturn becomes what it was always meant to be: resilient, diligent, mature, disciplined. The structure that allows our desires to flourish.

Desire as Divine Relationship

When you ask with faith, when you give without calculating what you’ll get in return, desire stops being a childish plea to the sky and becomes a sacred act of relationship.

Desire is the way the divine flows through you. It’s not frivolous. It’s fuel.
